I’ve read online that it is NOT recommended to do a transmission flush after you have already gone past the recommended mileage to do so. The reason being that you will disturb whatever is in there and it will run through your transmission and kill it. My 2012 Cruze is at 70k miles.
On our first Cruze I changed the fluid about 90,000 miles or so and then again around 150,000. I would have changed the fluid again around 200,000 but we traded it in at 190,000. Both times I did a single dump and refill. you will be fine doing a fluid change at 100,000.The 2012 owners manual recommended to change at 100,000.
Undo axle nut. Usually requires a big socket, air compressor and impact gun. Undo bolt or nut from lower ball join. Seperate ball joint from hub. Now hub swings out of the way. Outter axle should slide out with a little help from a hammer. You might need the nut on it if the threads need protection.
Because of the cold temperature I had a shop take care of this work. The cooler lines out of the transmission run to a thermostatic valve that's located near the bottom of the radiator. The shop pulled the battery, battery tray, and the transmission support in order to replace the line that connects to the drivers side of the transmission.

It only had to take fluid from that hole. You have a check plug. Buy a bit of fluid, get a scan gauge or scan tool that will read the trans temp, and wait until it's at 180-200F. Do a long 2nd gear trans brake or drive in 2nd gear until. It gets to that temp, and then dump fluid in until it just dribbles out of the check plug.
That's a good process for an old transmission with unknown history. However there's an easier method. Use the cooler hoses to pump out the fluid with the car running in park bRefill, repeat til it runs clean. I don't know what the torque converter capacity is on the GM transmission, but after 2-3 runs, all fluid should be new.
There are many cars that use the same AF40, although with different valve bodies. The latest revision of the 2014 Cruze Owner's manual does not differentiate between gas or diesel for the transmission fluid severe service interval. It is recommended that you change it every 45k miles. 90% of people fall under the severe service category.
